Casino News from the Asian Property Development Boom
Casinos, theme parks, and resorts oh my! Asiais experiencing a construction boom in a build up of opportunities for new property development and opening the way a massive entertainment market. This is good news for designers across the world, but especially for those in theUnited Stateswhere the industry is glutted and has left most designers and developers in a lurch for employment opportunities. America’s slow down in resort development is Asia’s gain as US designers are finding new growth in the Asian market.
Theme Parks
Theme parks in the US have seen decreasing profits for the past three years and many of the Titans of that industry are near folding. European theme parks are also experiencing the same slow to no growth situation. Even Dubai has no use for theme parks at the moment, putting one of the biggest theme park projects on hold indefinitely.
Asia is in a much different economic environment at the moment and Disney is jumping all over it with a planned release of a massive four billion dollar park in Shanghai scheduled for opening in 2016. If Disney isn’t the attraction that Asia is looking for, then they will have an opportunity to visit theHelloKittyParkin early 2014. Universal Studios has already found success in China and has plans to build another in Korea over the next two years.
Macau, China
Macau,China, the land of legal casinos is experiencing growth as well in their gaming empire. The Galaxy is the first in a new mentality in Macau, meant to bring about other streams of revenue as to not be completely dependent upon gambling proceeds. Tourism is on the mind of the Chinese government and is being promoted heavily. Private companies are being approached by the government to begin developments that include new restaurants, hotels and theme parks. China has not exactly been the right place for theme parks to thrive, but amongst a myriad of reason why not, China will continue to build them until they have it right.
